Lotto Prizes
There are many prizes on offer in Lotto, including jackpot payouts that have in the past reached more than R100 million. You must match all six numbers to win the jackpot, but if no one manages that, the prize rolls over and increases in value for the next draw. Prize Payouts
There are eight different prize divisions in Lotto, starting with the Division 8 prize for matching two numbers and the Bonus Ball. Prizes are funded using the revenue from Lotto ticket sales.
The Division 7 and 8 prizes are fixed amounts, while the other divisions receive a certain percentage of the overall prize pool, so those payouts can change from draw to draw. The table below shows all the prize divisions, the odds of winning, and the average Lotto payouts in recent draws.
Division | Numbers Matched | Odds of Winning | Prize Pool Percentage | Payout In Last Draw | Average Payout Since 2017 |

The money needed to pay out the fixed prizes is deducted from the prize pool before the remaining funds are split between the other divisions. Payouts are rounded to the nearest 10 cents.

Estimated and Guaranteed Jackpots
There is no guaranteed minimum jackpot in standard Lotto draws; the prize can vary based on how many tickets have been sold. The average starting jackpot over the last six months has been R13,411,764.71.
Guaranteed jackpot draws are special events in which the top prize is boosted to a bigger minimum amount, such as R20 million or R30 million. These draws are announced in advance and the jackpot stated will be a guaranteed minimum, even if it's significantly lower in the previous draw.
The only exception to this is when the estimated jackpot naturally rolls over to be worth more than the advertised guaranteed jackpot. In that instance, the guaranteed jackpot will give way to the estimated one and the funds for the special event will be held in reserve until a later date.
